Rojales is a traditional Spanish town surrounded by hills and agriculture and is very well placed for exploring, being only a few minutes' drive or bus ride to sandy beaches and golf courses. Alicante is only 25 minutes away, Torrevieja 15 minutes away and even Benidorm is in easy reach by car or bus.
The apartment is very well situated being only a few minutes walk from the centre of the town passing tapas bars and a variety of restaurants along the way. There is a bus stop opposite the complex taking you straight to the sandy beach and pine forests of Guardamar - alternatively this is only a 5 minute drive away. The town contains all the shops needed, including a supermarket. There is also an English bar in the centre, and a larger English pub with a games room, on the outskirts.

The aquapark in Quesada, on the edge of Rojales, is suitable for small children as well as having rapids and slides. The golf course of Quesada is only 2 minutes away and the larger one of La Finca is only 5 minutes away - this also has a bar/restaurant open to everyone.
To the south of the town in the surrounding hills are the caves of El Rodeao which incorporate an extensive handicrafts market.

Also only minutes away are the two salt lakes of Torrevieja. dating back to the 12th century, these are the most important of their kind in Europe. They have National Park status and there are cycle paths and pedestrian routes around them from which you can view some of the 250 species of birds spotted there, including migrating flamingos. Torrevieja itself is under 15 minutes away and has plenty to offer with its marina, funfair, street markets, night clubs, all kinds of restaurants, two large aquaparks and a wonderful indoor market.
Most of the villages and towns host fiestas throughout the year and are mid-May, 29th June and beginning of October in Rojales. In Torrevieja they include a big one on Good Friday. During May there is the Ferria de Mayo which has music, dance and costumes from Andalucia. June has the 'Holy Heart Festivities' which has childrens games, dances and music. 16th July celebrates the saint of fishermen and seamen, and on the 8th December there is a big procession as part of the festivities from the 1st - 17th.
